Certified Purchasing Manager Program and the Institute for Supply Management The C.P.M. program is specifically designed for experienced supply managers, focusing on managerial and leadership skills and a variety of specialized functions. Industry and government recognize the program as the most respected designation of supply management competence. The C.P.M. certification is the universally accepted standard for identifying and recognizing supply management professionals. The C.P.M. certification is sponsored by the Institute for Supply Management (ISM)—formerly the National Association of Purchasing Management. ISM is the largest supply management association in the world. Its mission is to lead the supply management profession through its standards of excellence, research, promotional activities, and education. ISM's membership includes more than 40,000 supply management professionals with a network of domestic and international affiliated associations. C.P.M. Exam Modules Applicants for C.P.M. certification must pass all four modules of the C.P.M. exam. Applicants must also:
- Have five years of full-time professional (non-clerical, non-support) purchasing and supply management experience, or
- Have a four-year degree from an accredited institution and three years of full-time professional purchasing and supply management experience.
The exam modules include:
- Module 1: Purchasing Process
- Module 2: Supply Environment
- Module 3: Value Enhancement Strategies
- Module 4: Management.
